Yet another great visualization from xkcd. It makes the proportions easier to process (and really shows the income disparities).

NOTE: This chart is entirely in 2011 dollars. Every value with a year associated before 2011 was adjusted for inflation using the Consumer Price Index. Nearly every amount has a cited source— when possible, a scholarly work or government publication. A list of sources is available at http://xkcd.com/980/sources/ (link’s not working but I’m assuming it’s either been assaulted with traffic OR he hasn’t posted it quite yet).
